Festival of the European civic service
30 May 2022“Building Europe with and for young people: European Civic Service for all”.
1 July 2022The conference “L’engagement des jeunes roumains et français: vers un service civique européen? “organized by the French Embassy in Romania and the Institut Français De Bucarest, in collaboration with the CSCE, took place on June 17, 2022, from 2:30pm to 7:30pm. ⏲️
The event will take place at the French Institute in Bucharest and will be divided into two parts:
➡️ 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm: working sessions bringing together young Romanian volunteers to discuss the needs of Romanian youth and the benefits of developing volunteering, mobility and civic service in their country 🇷🇴;
➡️ 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm: a conference bringing together French and Romanian speakers to discuss national civic service schemes, their articulation at European level, and their possible development in Romania 🇷🇴 via a pilot project. 🤝
And we’ll end the evening with a networking session and buffet at the Institut Français De Bucarest at 7:35pm!
The aim of the event was to talk about European civic service and its implementation in Romania, in the company of key local figures:
- H.E. Mrs Laurence Auer, French Ambassador to Romania;
- Ms Cătălina Galer, State Councillor, Department of Relations with Public Authorities and Civil Society;
- Mr. Julien Chiappone-Lucchesi, Director of the French Institute of Romania.
- Mr. Victor Negrescu (video) Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament
- Ms Dorothée Merville, Director of the Hippocrene Foundation;
- Marie Trellu-Kane, Executive Chairman and co-founder of Unis-Cité
- Ms Alexandra Andreea Irimia, former European Civic Service volunteer
- Mr Gabriel Brezoiu, Managing Director of the Group of European Youth for Change (GEYC);
- Mr Gabriel Carnariu, President of the Romanian Youth Council;
- Mr. Robert Avram, President of the National Council of Romanian Students;
- Ms Oana Tintar, General Secretary of the National Alliance of Romanian Student Organizations;
- Anca Maxim European Solidarity Corps expert at the National Agency for Community Vocational Education and Training;
- Constantin-Alexandru Manda Vice-President of the Group of European Youth for Change and Romania’s representative on the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth
Themes such as #volunteering, #civicengagement, #cultural #cooperation and #European #mobility for all young #Romanians were highlighted during these debates!
