GreenLink : Connecter l'Europe par sa Jeunesse

Bâtir une citoyenneté active avec ceux qui en sont le plus éloignés.

GreenLink aims to strengthen citizen participation, volunteering and democratic engagement in Europe by connecting local communities, civil society organisations and young citizens around common priorities such as ecological transition, social inclusion and human rights.

The project promotes volunteering as an essential lever for solidarity and sustainability, by building a European network of cities and associations committed to inclusive and participatory local action.

GreenLink is not just a project for young people; it is built with them. Our mission is to transform civic engagement into a concrete reality for young Europeans, particularly JAMOs and marginalized communities.

Our vision

We believe that European cohesion depends on the direct involvement of citizens on the ground. By using mobilizing themes such as the environment, minority rights, and culture, we create a bridge to sustainable democratic participation.

Our key objectives

  • Inclusion: Placing young people with fewer opportunities (50% of our beneficiaries) at the heart of the action.
  • Long-term commitment: Going beyond the one-off event through structured 6-month volunteering.
  • Transnational cooperation: Creating a strong network between municipalities and civil society across Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Cyprus, Latvia).

The project with numbers

Target group
Engaged participants 100 youth (min. 6 months of engagement)
Priority for inclusion 50% of NEETs and/or YWLO
Major events 250 to 300 people attending events per territory
Mixity Gender balance (max 50% of one gender)
Digital printings +500 000 views on social medias

A unique methodology: Peer-to-peer

We use high-visibility events to promote European values through youth action:

  • Milan 2026 Winter Olympics: Workshops on peace and human rights.

  • Cannes Film Festival: Creation of Citizens' Assemblies for the Climate.

  • Local Festivals: From Cyprus to Latvia, our volunteers co-create events rooted in the needs of their territory.

Activities of the consortium:

The European Civic Service (SCE) was created in response to the persistent exclusion of young people, unequal access to mobility opportunities, and the limited European scope of national civic service programs. Many young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, face structural barriers to international experience, skills development, and civic participation. The SCE fills this gap by combining long-term civic engagement with structured European mobility within an inclusive and supported framework.

This program allows young people aged 16 to 25 (up to 30 for young people with disabilities) to undertake a national civic service mission of at least six months in their country of residence, followed by a six-month European mission with a partner organization abroad. Its implementation is based on a "tandem" model, pairing local volunteers with European volunteers to foster peer learning, intercultural dialogue, and mutual support. The host and sending organizations coordinate recruitment, mentoring, learning support, and reintegration assistance.

The main beneficiaries are young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities due to their educational, social, economic, geographical, or personal circumstances. Stakeholders include civic service organizations, youth organizations, municipalities, European partner organizations, and public authorities. This practice contributes to skills development, professional integration, social inclusion, active citizenship, and a strengthened sense of European belonging, while supporting local communities through community service projects.
